Baselworld is the cornerstone event for jewelry and watch manufacturers to show the world the latest developments in horological style, design, and technology. Whether it be retailers, journalists, or the admiring public, an estimated 120,000 visitors from over 100 countries are expected to roam the 141,000 square meters of exhibition space at the timepiece trade fair in Basel, Switzerland over the next few days.
Rolex, TAG Heuer, Patek Philippe, Breitling, and Hublot are among some of the industry leaders who will vie for the public’s admiration with a kaleidoscopic array of colors, metals, jewels, and leathers—and the astronomical price tags to match.
This formula is best represented by the London-based Graff Diamonds. Making its first appearance at Baselworld, it also appears determined to garner the most attention with its reveal of a US $55 million (AED/SAR 200 million) women’s watch, “Hallucination.” The extravagant timepiece is adorned with rare colored diamonds totaling 110 carats, making it the most valuable watch ever created.
Gentlemen, go big or go home…just don’t go home empty-handed.
