Why Gucci’s Fall 2016 Shoe Game Was So Strong

The 70’s, but on steroids—that’s how one could describe Gucci’s Fall 2016 menswear collection. At least, that’s how we would. It has been exactly one year since boundary breaker Alessandro Michele was appointed as the brand’s new creative director and it might just be the best decision that Marco Bizzarri, the label’s CEO and president, has ever made. In a short time span, Michele has managed to keep both the brand’s identity strong while completely revamping it.

For Fall 2016, Michele combined the best of two worlds: Italian extravaganza with an ode to the 70’s. From romantic double-breasted jackets to an embroidered velour tracksuit, the Gucci collection covered vast style territories, especially when it came to footwear.

Sneakers, sandals, gold-studded loafers, and even the love-them-or-hate-them furry slipper. Straight from the runway, these are the shoes that knocked our socks off.
