We appreciate the value of a good shoe and when that shoe is housed within a rich, chestnut wood designed boutique, we find ourselves looking forward to shopping just as much as our female companions (well, almost). What started out as a small shoe shopping destination by Abdullatif Khalid AlAujan in 1972 in the busy Manama Souk in Bahrain, soon became one of the most premium locations for Bahraini men to select the finest of European quality footwear. The AlAujan sons, who now operate the venture, decided it was high time to operate in a more high-end location and have recently unveiled a new gentlemen’s boutique in Moda Mall, only a few hundred meters away from the original shop.

For shoes connoisseurs, this means a wider selection of men’s footwear and accessories from the celebrated handmade English and Italian brands Caretti, Church’s, Harrys of London, Barker, and Cheaney. The new store, in line with the brand’s classic aesthetic, has the feel of a plush parlor; parquet-lined floors and soft carpets lead the way to the gentlemen’s corner where fresh coffee is served while customers can browse a wall of framed memorabilia and thumb through books. Wall-length showcases, lined with chestnut wood, display rows of crafted footwear, while top-of-the-line canes, shoehorns, and shoe polish are also available.

“Only experience and success, proven by our long standing history and understanding of the market, has allowed us to bring this caliber of brands to the Bahraini market,” said Khalifa AlAujan and Abdulaziz AlAujan at the opening of the new store.

We know Eid just passed but a smart pair of shoes doesn’t really need an occasion; skim through the brand’s online gallery here.
