Raw Metals: Atlas Steel Watch

atlas

We’ve seen many designs that attempt to blend both modern and classic aesthetics, and it appears that this steel timepiece took that same approach to heart—by fashioning a watch fit for a caveman. While we might be slightly exaggerating, there’s no denying that the raw and rugged lines of the Project 4 Atlas Steel Watch might resemble a chunk of unrefined raw materials that somehow keeps time. But the watchmakers at Refined Hardware take pleasure in creating timepieces that capture “the truly visceral charm of raw metal” (and you thought we were over doing it) without having to sacrifice on wearability or function.

The Atlas Edition timepiece is composed of meticulously milled metals (try saying that three times fast), forged carbon, a signature Refined Hardware grid face, and a skeletonized high frequency movement, and also features dual anti-reflective pure sapphire crystals. Each timepiece comes individually numbered and hand-laid with carbon fiber. The downside (or upside), is that only 50 Atlas watches will be made.

While this hulking wristwatch might have been crafted with Conan the Barbarian in mind, we have a feeling it might end up on the wrist of an international financier.
