Live on Lebanon’s Stunning Coast

Who wouldn’t want to rise to witness the sun reflecting off the Mediterranean, hear the sounds of waves crashing onto the golden sand and white rocks, and smell a mix of olives and sea salt caught up in the warm winds? In the Lebanese seaside town of Amchit, these can all be a part of your morning routine.

Lebanese firm, Blankpage Architects, has constructed the Amchit Residence to dramatically unify a modern, minimalist design with the rugged, raw beauty of the Mediterranean coast. The design appears to reduce the structure to its essential elements—concrete, wood, and glass—in order to have it blend as seamlessly as possible with its natural surroundings. The architects achieved this blending of the interior and exterior by designing a three-storey residence complete with floor-to-ceiling windows. The uppermost floor consists of a long, slender lap pool surrounded by an unadorned sun deck and a master bedroom with an unrestricted view of the sea. The second floor consists of two bedrooms and a living room while just below, on the lower floor is a reception area that opens up past an infinity pool and stretches to the idyllic coast.

To quote the Lebanese poet and writer, Khalil Gibran, “The hidden well-spring of your soul must needs rise and run murmuring to the sea.” Yes, indeed.
