March appears to be packed with art and cultural festivities with the Dubai Design Days set to return alongside the Sharjah Biennial, Art Dubai, and the Sikka Art Fair.
Design Days Dubai, now in its 4th year, will take place from March 16th to 20th at The Venue, Downtown Dubai. Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the event aims to offer a unique platform for design enthusiasts as well as collectors.
Having featured a roster of international galleries in the past seasons, this year’s event will host 44 renowned exhibitors from 20 countries who will showcase works created exclusively for the Middle East. The extensive public program will feature discussion panels, lectures, installations, and workshops.
The unveiling of a series of 10 oversized sculptural works, created exclusively for Dubai by acclaimed designer Andreas von Zadora-Gerlof, will be a significant highlight of the five-day event. The designer is renowned for his work in the ancient carved craft of glyptics and his sculptures are inspired by the work of the renowned Dutch graphic artist, M.C. Escher.
The 2015 edition of the fair will also see a strengthened participation from leading international design organizations including the World Design Capital—Taipei 2016 (Taiwan) and Beijing Design Week (China).
