We’ve seen the new era in high-tech tea brewing, and now we’re witnessing an about-face in the world of espresso. The ES3 Espresso Machine is probably unlike any espresso maker you have laid eyes on as it aims to take “the art of coffee making back to its essential origin.” Rather than pressing a button and hearing an electric motor rumble to almost magically concoct a cup of espresso, the ES3 brewing process is completely visible and fully within your control.
Handmade in the Netherlands, the ES3 strives to make the perfect espresso by first electrically heating the water to the preferred temperature by an adjustable thermostat, after which the machine uses the old Italian method of pressing hot water through a coffee grain by way of a piston. The espresso machine is uniquely mounted to the wall, and has an open boiler design, anti-dust lid, three filter baskets, custom tamper, double spouts for two cups of espresso, as well as a removable piston that takes little effort to maintain.
While the seemingly low-tech machine sells for a high-tech price, the ES3 is built to produce ideal cups of espresso for a lifetime. With the ES3, your morning coffee ritual might actually get you out of bed on time for a change.
