The 22nd Dubai International Boat Show will take place from March 4-8 at the Dubai International Marine Club and it looks like it might be the strongest so far.
A recent market research by the Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries (DCMMI) revealed that Dubai’s maritime industry is growing, as the UAE invested US $170-220 million (AED/SAR 624-808 million) in boatbuilding last year.
According to H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of the Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries, there are a multitude of reasons for the current growth of the local maritime industry, including the impact of the World Expo 2020 announcement, next to further coastline and island developments, such as the Dubai Maritime City.
“Since the Expo 2020 announcement, there has been strong international interest in leisure craft in Dubai, as there will be an increase in the number of leisure craft, fishing yachts, and tourism boats,” Buamim stated in an official release. “Three factors will put Dubai at the top of the global maritime industry: a rich tradition of boatbuilding, the latest technology, and enhanced costs with access to manpower.’’
And the figures announcing the upcoming Dubai International Boat Show look promising: more than 26,000 visitors from over 70 different countries are expected to attend the five-day event. A total of 30 luxury boats, including 19 super yachts, will be exhibited and the show will feature 840 exhibiting brands in total—which represents a 12% increase compared to 2013.
