10 Things to Know About Gucci’s Menswear Show

To the sounds of Gregorian chanting, Alessandro Michele presented his Spring 2016 menswear collection for Gucci—and in typical Michele fashion, the collection covered a lot of ground, from denim shorts to saccharine-hued suiting. Find 10 newsworthy highlights below while you wait for Tim Blanks’ full review.

1. The show’s opening look featured a logo-print trenchcoat worn with green pants, gold shoes, and a loose floral scarf around the neck. As if that wasn’t enough to set the mood of the collection, the model’s name also happens to be Love.

2. The silhouette of the show was primarily a slim fitted top with low-waisted, flared trousers that pooled slightly at the ankle. Shoes of a contrasting color required.

3. Several Asian notes permeated the collection, including this floral bomber jacket and tunic-length button-down, worn belted at the waist for an obi-like effect.

4. Though it’s worn on the runway by a man, we have a hunch that this golden knit polo and tie-dye denim shorts ensemble will become a summer favorite of Gucci’s female customers.

5. Same goes for this embroidered and studded lavender moto jacket.

6. The toile pattern from the women’s Resort collection carried over into today’s men’s showing, best epitomized in this slim suit.

7. Did we not say the pink suit was trending?

8. The branded shopper tote first seen at Resort 2016 made several appearances on the catwalk this morning.

9. A handful of female models walked in the show, two sporting silky wrap dresses in mixed prints, evoking the custom dress Michele created for Georgia May Jagger at the Met Gala this year.

10. Is it even a Gucci show if the models don’t walk outside? For the men’s presentation, models did a lap outside the venue, to the delight of the photographers waiting there.
