Raf Simons’ dexterity was on full display on this morning’s Dior Haute Couture runway. Whether he was tackling new fabrications, among them corduroy and velvet, or showcasing the fine craftsmanship of the Dior atelier, Simons’ skill was put to the test. You could say that the precision and flexibility shown was akin to that of a samurai—and you might say that, considering that Simons appeared at the end of the show in a T-shirt bearing a picture of a lunging swordsman.
Since his bow this morning, Simons’ tee—in the Style.com offices, at least—has become something of a hotly coveted item. Luckily for those interested, a similar version of the top, from Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley’s debut Marc by Marc Jacobs men’s collection, is still available to buy online. Not only does the style come with an endorsement from Simons, but it also plays nicely into the menswear trend toward Asian influences seen at the recent shows. And for true Simons fanatics: It coordinates with that 1996 Helmut Lang denim jacket the designer wore to bow after his first Dior ready-to-wear collection in 2012. Just in case you’re keeping track.
