To a large extent, the use of social media in different fields has become a requirement rather than an option. To take a closer look at its role within the art and culture industries, the 1971 — Design Space in Sharjah will host a two-day forum, titled “The Social Infraculture,” on January 16th and 17th, which will feature workshops, talks, and panel discussions.
Panelists from various influential UAE art institutions and publications will shed light on how social media can benefit the creative industry in the discussion, “Social Media & the Art World.” The forum will also touch upon the growing use of artificial intelligence by online key players, such as Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn, at a panel talk moderated by social influencer Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi and including participants from the Museum of the Future.
Fatma Al Mulla, artist and founder of the brand FMM, will hold an informative workshop, “Instapraneurship,” with social media expert Zahra Nasralla, the founder of Social Addicts. The first day will end with the eighth edition of Pecha Kucha Night in Sharjah where entrepreneurs, bloggers, and creatives will share their social media experiences in the 20 second x 20 slide format.
On day two of the forum, representatives from non-profit organizations and local community heroes will discuss “Social Media for Social Change,” while a talk on “Social Media for Non-Profit” will also be held.
The event is open to the public. For the full schedule and registration details, visit 1971design.ae.
