It’s that time of the year again: the World Photography Organization (WPO) is inviting professional photographers and amateurs from across the world to apply for the 2015 edition of the Sony World Photography Awards.

The participating photographers will compete for a range of cash prizes and the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony. Overall winners will be announced at a gala ceremony held in London on April 23rd, 2015, and will also have their work published in the 2015 edition of the Sony World Photography Awards book and exhibited at Somerset House, in London.

The competition includes several categories, such as Professional, judged on a series of work; Open, judged on a single image; Youth, for photographers under 20; and Student Focus, for higher education photography students, between 18 and 30 years old.

The competition has been quite successful thus far. In fact, since its launch in 2007, the World Photography Organization has registered over 700,000 images from countries, which have been submitted for the Sony World Photography Awards.

If you think you’ve got some great photos to share, then check the deadlines and enter your best work at www.worldphoto.org. And if you don’t make the cut, then try your luck with further international and regional competitions, such as the National Geographic Photography Contest, the International Emirates Photography Competition, or the Jameel Photography Award.
