Spanning the vast fields of architecture, monumental art, sculpture, interior design, carpentry, custom furniture, visual art, and objects that otherwise defy categorization, the third edition of Design Days Dubai opens today. 33 galleries from across 20 countries are certain to showcase something for everyone with an eye for smart and thought-provoking design.
Under the patronage of the Crown Prince, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and running until March 21st, the event is an international affair that unites proficient artists and high end design galleries from around the globe for the benefit of curious observers, individuals seeking inspiration, and potential customers with contemporary tastes.
Starting today, lose yourself in the maze of design works or take a guided tour through the event to fully grasp the depth of ingenuity that has descended upon the Emirate. Attend a talk by Michele Lamy, creative collaborator and wife of Rick Owens. Take a workshop on casting planters with Chen Chen and Kai Williams. Or, catch a screening presented by The Crafts Council that provides insight into the work of ten British makers presenting work to inspire commissions at Design Days Dubai. A fun, interactive installation at the entrance allows you to get your portrait sketched by a large robotic arm designed by Guillaume Crédoz and Nareg Karaoghlanian. Meanwhile, budding designers will be inspired by the works of Tashkeel’s select Emirati designers, Latifa Saeed, Salem Al-Mansoori, and Zeinab Alhashemi.
Tickets can be purchased at the Fair. General admission is AED 50 while children and students under 18 are admitted for free. Visit www.designdaysdubai.ae for the Fair’s full schedule.
