Exclusive: Cipriani Restaurant Rumored Not to Open in Dubai

Food lovers in Dubai have been avidly anticipating the opening of high end Italian eatery, Cipriani, in Downtown Dubai this September. However Style.com/Arabia has been informed from a gourmet-savvy source that the doors will remain tightly shut for the foreseeable future.

The top tier celebrity haunt first opened with Harry’s Bar in Venice in 1931. Fast forward to the current day, it now has subsequent Cipriani restaurant sites in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Hong Kong, Ibiza, and Mexico—to name a few.

With its first restaurant in the region located on Yas Island (overlooking the marina) considered a hotspot during the annual Formula One celebrations, the fashionable set were gearing up for the unveiling of the second restaurant located just a stone’s throw from a Dubai landmark, the Burj Khalifa. The impressive split-level, glass structure on the bustling Downtown Boulevard in Dubai was expected to open by the end of the year and was touted to become a major player on the culinary scene.

However Style.com/Arabia has now learned that the deal has turned sour and Cipriani will no longer to take up residency in Dubai. The breaking news will no doubt disappoint the hot-to-trot who had planned on making this their stomping ground. Alas, there will be no post office veal farfalle for which the restaurant is now famous for—a blow for Dubai’s gastronomic society, indeed.
