Rami Al Ali’s New York City Guide

Along with maneuvering a packed schedule of meetings with showrooms and publicists regarding the launch of his new ready-to-wear line in the US, Dubai-based Syrian designer Rami Al Ali also took in a few sights in the Big Apple. Here, he shares with Style.com/Arabia/MEN his top tips for a beautiful New York City fall visit.

GET THERE: If you want the best Business class seat and service on a long flight (14 hours) and have WiFi on board to help you finish last-minute work, then fly Emirates Airlines.

STAY: The Carlyle Hotel, located on the Upper East Side is an excellent location overlooking Central Park. It’s also next to Madison Avenue where all the top luxury boutiques are scattered. The hotel provides amazing personalized service. Absolutely wonderful.

EAT: If the jetlag doesn’t hit then eating out is an option! For lunch, I love the Greek Milos at 125 West 55th Street or Fred’s at Barneys. Dinner at Indochine is also always fun.

DO: A walk through Central Park to observe the changing colors of fall is a must. Scan the museums for new exhibitions and if possible, get invited to a party (Dior at the Guggenheim). I also got some tickets to the Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, however, I unfortunately missed the show—though it comes highly recommended.
