Celebrated Chef Launches 40-Pound Cookbook

You may have seen a copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child lying around many a gourmet cook’s kitchen, but there is a new cookbook in town and it’s likely to knock all the other ones over, literally. Celebrated French chef, Yannick Alléno, is launching Ma Cuisine Française, a book retracing 25 years of his cooking. The 40-pound tome, priced at USD$2,050, comes in a limited edition of 1,000 copies and is delivered in a custom-made box. Alléno, a former chef at Paris’ Le Meurice hotel, is now fully employed at 1947, the restaurant located inside the LVMH-owned Cheval Blanc Hotel in the alpine resort of Courchevel. With the Winter season around the corner, ski enthusiasts from the region will have the opportunity to make a reservation; as for the rest of us, the “ultimate” guide to contemporary French cuisine is available for purchase.
