The final 2014 countdown has yet to begin, but the popular goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo has already shared one of his resolutions for next year.

At the 8th edition of the Dubai International Sports Conference (Dubai ISC), the Real Madrid player announced that he is ready to beat his own record of 69 goals in 2013, and win next month’s Fifa Ballon d’Or trophy, for which he will compete with fellow players Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery.

“It’s not going to be easy, but I will try and break my own record. If you don’t try, you won’t achieve great things,” stated Ronaldo during the conference. “Scoring is my passion. Every season I try and improve myself―my goals, my assists. Goals are not the most important thing in football, but without goals you cannot win games. It’s all about hard work and dedication and every season for me is a new challenge.

The Dubai International Sports Conference was held under the title of ‘Empowering the Future of Football’ at the Madinat Jumeirah on December 27th and 28th. The conference attracted renowned football professionals and conference speakers, such as Bayern Munich boss, Josep ‘Pep’ Guardiola; Director of the FIFA Legal Division, Marco Villiger; Juventus FC Football manager, Antonio Conte; and Barcelona football player, Xavier Hernandez, among others.
