The 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards

Dressed in all their finery, celebrities gathered at the Royal Opera House in London last night for the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards.

Each year, the swanky event (now in its 17th edition) welcomes the who’s who of the movie, entertainment, and fashion industries, as well as notables from the world of politics, to present the lucky few with the Men of the Year accolades. Highlights of the night included Bradley Cooper presenting the International Male Award to Jonah Hill, who commented on his win, “I want to use this opportunity to reach some people. Emily Muffat, my first girlfriend that I was in love with. In sixth grade you broke up with me over the phone. I was really heartbroken. I was really shattered and sad [laughs]. I don’t hold it against you. By the way I’m GQ f****** International Man of the Year. Peace.”

The ever-dapper Benedict Cumberbatch, while collecting his Actor of the Year trophy, playfully remarked, “This is wonderful. I’d like to thank James McAvoy for not being available.”

Others who took home awards include Liam Neeson (Editor’s Special), Christopher Bailey (Designer), André Balazs (Entrepreneur), New Order (Inspiration), Pharrell Williams (Solo Artist), Colin Firth (Leading Man), Lewis Hamilton (Sportsman), Douglas Booth (Hugo Boss Most Stylish Man), Van Morrison (Legend), Agi & Sam (Breakthrough Fashion Designers), and Tony Blair (Philanthropist), although Blair got booed by the audience.

As always, the ladies didn’t shy away from stealing the spotlight from the male guests. GQ Woman of the Year, Kim Kardashian, stepped out onto the red carpet wearing a revealing custom-designed sheer skirtpaired with a plunging bodysuit. She thanked her husband Kanye West in her acceptance speech, saying: “What a huge honor to win Woman of the Year. It’s so special. I want to thank my husband for making me feel like the woman of the year every single day.”

Nicole Scherzinger, accompanying Lewis Hamilton, showed off her enviable curves in a figure-hugging dress, while model Daisy Lowe turned heads with her tailored, plunging jumpsuit, and Jourdan Dunn donned a body-hugging dress.
