#Pelfie: HH Sheikh Hamdan Takes a Selfie, But Not of Who You Would Think

A photo posted by Fazza (@faz3) on

Horse rider, poet, diver, humanitarian, skydiver, and of course, Crown Prince of Dubai, HH Sheikh Hamdan has taken a selfie of someone he clearly holds on the highest of pedestals—his horse.

The photo of the Sheikh taking a selfie of his horse (or it this a pelfie?) reminds us that his father, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is the founder of one of the world’s leading international horseracing entities—Godolphin. When the UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai studied in Cambridge, he would tell his English host family that “the most influential sire in British racing was an Arabian horse named the Godolphin Arabian.” Today, the most influential horse may not be a Godolphin, but he is nonetheless tied to the Arab world; Triple Crown winner American Pharoah won his eighth straight victory on Sunday—the incredible steed owned by Egyptian businessman Ahmed Zayat took home the William Hill Haskell Invitational.
