Speeding past Lewis Hamilton on the YAS Marina Circuit, Nico Rosberg secured his third consecutive win at the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday and wrapped up the Formula 1 season on a high note. The German driver’s third win in a row, from a sixth successive pole position, stopped his Mercedes teammate and triple world champion Hamilton from securing his 44th career victory. As Rosberg eased towards the finish line, Hamilton faced a threat from Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, who ultimately finished in third place. This is Rosberg’s 14th career victory and Mercedes’ 12th one-two of the season—a Formula 1 record.

Ahead of the UAE’s 44th anniversary, the country’s royals—including H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces—as well as foreign dignitaries were in attendance to witness the end of the 2015 Formula 1. More than 60,000 racing enthusiasts gathered at the YAS Marina for three days of exciting races and sold-out performances by regional stars such as Cheb Khaled and Saad Lamjarred, as well as international musicians, including Enrique Iglesias and Blur.
