Sheikh Mohammed’s Eldest Son Dies of a Heart Attack at 33-Years-Old

The UAE is in mourning following the news that Sheikh Mohammed’s eldest son Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum died of a heart attack in Dubai Saturday morning; he was 33-years-old. The eldest son of the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum was educated at the Rashid School for Boys and later attended the prestigious Sandhurst Military Academy in the UK; he graduated in 2002. Sheikh Rashid was a well-known sportsman and participated in many equestrian competitions, winning two gold medals at the 2006 Asian Games. He was also the owner of Zabeel Racing International. Prayers were held at Zabeel Mosque prior to the burial at Bur Dubai’s Umm Hurair cemetery. The Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, carried his deceased brother along with other family members during the funeral services; he stated, “Today, I lost a best friend and a childhood companion, my dear brother Rashid. You will be missed.” The UAE announced an official three-day mourning period.
