Kanye West has announced that he will soon bring his Vultures listening experience to Egypt. But will the American rapper be able to really go through with it?
Ye, formerly known as Kanye West has set his sights on the Pyramid of Djoser, Egypt for the next stop in his Vultures listening experience. Earlier this month, the rapper announced that he would take to Saqqara, Egypt with singer Ty Dolla $ign to host Ye’s signature listening party for their collaborative album Vultures. The musical work has been long in the making and garnered a lot of hype with the duo promoting it around the world via multiple shows in the US and Europe since the start of the year.
The listening party is set to kick off at 8pm on April 20, and tickets have been made available for sale following the announcement, however, there is one catch. Authorities in Egypt, who hold the major say in the final green lighting of the experience, are yet to confirm the news. It is worth noting that a similar gig in the past was scrapped after its announcement. When Travis Scott revealed that he would be hosting a show near the Pyramids in Giza in July 2023, the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate reportedly canceled the performance. The reasons cited that certain “rituals” around Scott’s artistic values were believed to be contradictory to Middle Eastern culture. This led to the Egyptian Musician Syndication establishing a dedicated committee to investigate foreign artists before allowing them to host shows in the country.
According to Scene Noise, which claims to be the “exclusive media partner” for the event, Ye’s listening party is organized by Venture Lifestyle x Falcons in partnership with 96X, and will feature four additional supporting acts.
