Bear Grylls, one of the most recognizable British outdoor adventurers, has revealed that he will be bringing his show Running Wild with Bear Grylls to the UAE. For the sixth season of the adventure-packed series, Grylls also announced that it will feature one of the country’s leading figures in a future episode.
Adding an element of mystery, Grylls refused to reveal who the local figure will be, however, the episode’s goal is to showcase the UAE and its vision for the future. The new season of Running Wild with Bear Grylls premiered regionally on National Geographic on April 23. The season started with an exciting episode with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie, where the two embarked on an adventure across the Italian Dolomites.

Airing week on Friday at 9pm, the show sees a new celebrity guest venturing off into some of the most extreme environments. This season includes appearances by actor Danny Trejo, former racing driver Danica Patrick, Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Terry Crews, Key and Peele actor Keegan-Michael Key, and The Office‘s Rainn Wilson. Known to push celebrities to the limit, Grylls previously swung Ed Helms from a helicopter, embarked on an adventure with Barack Obama amid the Alaskan wilderness, and indulged in a daring meal with Fast and Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez.
Grylls has close ties to the region as he previously opened the world’s first Bear Grylls Explorer Camp in Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah last year. The camp is centered around basic to extreme survival skills, from making a fire to building emergency shelters and knife handling. The camp offers four different courses: primal survival course, family primal survival adventure, basic survival course, and surviving the wild.
