With each show as talked-about as the previous one, Paris Men’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 delivered plenty of moments to remember. The front rows, too, brought together the who’s who of the fashion and entertainment industries, with familiar faces including Naomi Campbell, Kendrick Lamar, David Beckham, Justin Timberlake, J Balvin, Shanina Shaikh, Tahar Rahim, Mohammed and Humaid Hadban, BTS’ V, Blackpink’s Lisa, Park Bogum, and more.
The runway highlights saw the first Louis Vuitton menswear show designed in the wake of its artistic director Virgil Abloh’s death. Created as an homage to his legacy, the pieces were presented on a conceptual Yellow Brick Road, while Kendrick Lamar delivered a performance wearing a crown of thorns. At Dior, Kim Jones looked to Monsieur Christian Dior’s childhood and where he grew up in Granville, Normandy. Pieces celebrated the great outdoors and adventure, combined with classic Dior tailoring seen in shorts, and camo jackets, while there were also chunky knit sweaters and a reimagined Dior bar jacket. “A fusion of the organic and the fabricated” was presented at Loewe, where greenery and flora were juxtaposed with tech and computer-generated elements as a nod to fashion’s growing relationship with the Metaverse. For Hermès’ new collection, artistic director Véronique Nichanian offered a joyful summer color palette with literal seasonal prints of sun and marine life, on a cobbled runway.
