There are countless rules about what constitutes an appropriate suit, but thankfully, stars like Timothée Chalamet continue to ignore them. This week at the San Sebastian International Film Festival premiere of his new movie Beautiful Boy, Chalamet arrived in a powder blue version from Alexander McQueen that stole the show. With its pale color, single breasted design, and cherry blossom and bird embroidery, the look was unlike anything else featured on red carpets of late. On the ever-dapper Chalamet, it made quite an impression.

He paired it with a collarless white cotton shirt, sneakers, and the beginnings of a brand new mustache, adding another layer to Chalamet’s fashion evolution. Always eager to experiment—be it an all-white Berluti tux at the Oscars in March or daring Haider Ackermann at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month—Chalamet’s derring-do should inspire others to step outside their comfort zone.
