Tommy Hilfiger has released a limited-edition “Being Bold” capsule collection featuring the famous George Lois “hangman” advert from 1985.
The advert was created to distinguish the brand launch from other interchangeable fashion campaigns, and the ad featured Tommy Hilfiger’s name alongside three successful American designers, Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, and Calvin Klein. The ad was a huge success and propelled Hilfiger to one of the defining American brands of the decade.
“Seeing my name on a Times Square billboard in New York City was a surreal experience and created a big turning point in my career,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “At a time when our brand DNA of being bold and breaking conventions is more important than ever, I’m really excited to revisit and share our heritage with the next generation of Tommy fans.”
The special six-piece capsule features the “Hangman” graphics on a white T-shirt, sweatshirt and hoodie, a blue patch satin bomber jacket, a coach jacket, and an American striped shirt.
The collection is available at select Tommy Hilfiger stores globally, on tommy.com
