The Grammy Awards have a reputation for its daring red carpet style. Over the years, we’ve seen Jennifer Lopez’s plunging Versace dress go viral, then there was that year Lady Gaga showed up in an egg. But what of the guys? If tonight’s showing is anything to go by, then it’s clear that men in music are having just as much fun with fashion.
One of the boldest moments of the evening came with Lil Nas X who went full fashion cowboy in hot pink Versace, paying homage to the bondage looks first made famous by supermodels like Cindy Crawford back in the ’90s. Also tuning into the country-western vibe was Diplo who rocked a sleek cowboy hat with his classic suit (with tons of turquoise jewelry, too). Steve Lacy, meanwhile, wore a daring Comme des Garçons outfit that was half dress, half suit.
Leading the charge of men in classic tailoring, Shawn Mendes looked especially dashing in a skinny three-piece by Louis Vuitton and pearl waistcoat chain, a dainty accent that felt fresh. Beck also went the three-piece route in a gray Celine look that was covered in dazzling crystals and finished with a red flower lapel pin. Meanwhile, K-Pop group BTS made a grand entrance wearing quietly elegant looks by Bottega Veneta in muted shades of camel and gray. As the saying goes, sometimes less is more.
