Can You Discover Scarves Like Music? Hermès’ New Installation Promises To Do Just That

Hermès is bringing the vibe of a vinyl record store to its immersive installation named Silk Mix to Dubai where you can browse, listen and discover the SS19 men’s silk collection. Born of the passion for music shared by the artistic director of Hermès’ men’s universe, Veronique Nichanian and Christophe Goineau, the creative director of men’s silk, the installation will feature a collection of scarves and ties intermingled with the aesthetic of vinyl records. Think artwork from the men’s silk scarves adorning record sleeves, and tie designs on cassette tape covers. Joining Nichanian and Goineau on this project is music director Thierry Planelle, the talent behind all the soundtracks of Hermès’ ready-to-wear runway shows for the past fifteen years.

Hanging from the walls and stacked on crates you will see scarves in 321 styles and 72 patterns as well as ties in 25 styles and 26 patterns. Each scarf is a “record” representing an extract from runway show soundtracks from the last ten years of men’s collections while each tie represents a “cassette” accompanied by a track released in 2019.

Visit the installation at Gate Village, DIFC from March 11-16
