The late Michael Jackson had plenty of standout fashion moments during his remarkable, decades-long career. Cue: the futuristic, red leather jacket from the Thriller music video (which actually went on to sell at auction for US$1.8 million) and the now-iconic white suit he wore on the cover of the game-changing album. The latter is now being recreated by Hugo Boss in a special capsule collection, entitled Hugo Boss x Michael Jackson, released to mark what would be the King of Pop’s 60th birthday on August 29.
The suit will be limited to 100 pieces globally, and each style will be numbered. The contemporary, slim-fit design references the original suit’s ’80s silhouette, fabric, and details, and is entirely crafted by expert tailors at the brand’s headquarters in Germany. In addition to the white twill suit, the capsule offering also includes three unisex, cotton t-shirts bearing iconic images of the late singer, such as one of Jackson’s much-revered dance poses. The Hugo Boss x Michael Jackson collection is set to hit select BOSS stores on August 29, and will also be available for purchase online.
Additionally, the luxury label is also celebrating the late artist by sponsoring the exhibition “Michael Jackson: On the Wall” at the National Portrait Gallery in London, which kicked off in June and is set to run until October 21. Scroll through the gallery below to discover the capsule line…
