Just in case you missed it, CNN put out of really nice short film about a traditional kaffiyeh maker who lived in Hebron.
From revolutionaries using it to cover their faces, to farmers using it to protect them from the elements it has always been a huge part of life in Palestine.
The Al Hirbawi factory is the last remaining institution in the Palestinian territories producing original kaffiyeh. Brothers Jouda, Abdelazim and Ezzat have been working in the factory since they were kids, inheriting the family business and continuing a proud legacy.
Now he faces competition from imported kaffiyeh, but he’s remaining true to the family roots and making his own locally. Here’s the film…
