Everything You Need to Know About Saudi Club Al Hilal’s Record Setting Bid for Mbappé

In a record-setting endeavor, Saudi Arabian football club Al Hilal has submitted a bid of €300m to Paris Saint-Germain for Kylian Mbappé. To convince the French forward, Al Hilal is also willing to pay an exuberant €200m pay for a one-season stint. The lucrative offer could lead to Mbappé joining Christiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the rising Saudi Pro League.

With the ever-growing popularity of football in the Kingdom, especially since Ronaldo joined Al Nasr, this offer comes at an ideal time. If Mbappé accepts the offer, not only would another major international player join the league, but he would also be doing so at the peak of his career which will undoubtedly set a new standard for the sport in Saudi Arabia. Al Hilal has already made a formal offer to Paris Saint-German by letter but the transfer will require the 24-year-old’s agreement.

The move comes after Mbappé refused to extend his contract with Paris Saint-German for another year, convincing the club that they need to sell him before the end of his contract. Nasser al-Khelaifi, the president of the club, told The Guardian, “If Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free; we can’t do that.” Mbappé reportedly wishes to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next year which would make the year-long Al Hilal stint ideal for the player.
