The world’s tallest man, Sultan Kösen of Turkey and the shortest woman on the planet, Jyoti Amge of India, posed in front of the pyramids in Egypt this week.
Kösen was measured by Guinness World Records at 251cm (8ft 3in) and Amge, who is 62.8 cm (2ft), were in Egypt to help promote tourism to the country.

He was the first person over eight feet in height to be measured by Guinness World Records in more than 20 years and has been the record holder for the world’s tallest living man since 2009, when he was 247cm tall. He has since grown taller, largely due to tumor affecting his pituitary gland. He also holds the record for the biggest hands.
Amge took her title when she was 18-years-old and only weighed 5kg – about the same as a cat. Her diminished size is due to a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. She has appeared on the TV drama American Horror Story: Freak Show playing Ma Petit, and Indian dwarf who was literally the pet of a wealthy Majaraja, led by a leash, while her master toured America, before a Carnival owner traded three cases of Dr Pepper to have Ma Petite join her freak show.
