Baking a Camembert Cheese – It Goes Perfectly With Watching TV

baking a camembert cheese

Baking a Camembert cheese – little effort, lots of reward.

If you ever flick through a cooking magazine or visit a website then you’ll see lots of spectacular looking things that you’ll want to eat that instant. But when you look at the ingredients and recipe you realize that it’s going to be a huge hassle to get all of those things, many of which won’t be in your local Spinneys or Waitrose. And then it seems like you’ll be spending the best part of an afternoon making it.

Some things, however, are fantastic and require almost no effort to make. These are things you can make in about 15 minutes – half time during a football match. And among these “half-time heroes” are things that are not only quick and easy to make, they are utterly fantastic. The baked Camembert is one of them.

Every Kitchen Should Have a Copy of The Palestinian Table

The ingredients are simple:

1 whole Camembert, in its box
1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
3-4 sprigs of fresh thyme
1 tsp olive oil

And the method is just as quick and easy…

1) Heat the oven to 200C/400F
2) Remove cheese from the plastic wrapping and put it back in the box, lid off.
3) Make slits in the top of the cheese and insert thin slices of garlic garlic and sprigs of thyme. Then drizzle the cheese with olive oil.
4) Bake for ten minutes (or until it’s properly melted inside)

Eat it with French bread, or if you’re prepared to put in a bit more effort, make a garlic bread. You can also drizzle some honey or Maple syrup on top, perhaps throw in a few dried cranberries, grapes or nuts, but really, it’s a winner just as it is.

Likewise, you can buy a baking dish especially created for baking a cheese, and they’re nice but not really essential.

Few things are as easy to make and so good to eat as a baked Camembert. Ideal as an alternative to a sugary dessert, or just as an accompaniment to an evening on the sofa with a film or the football.
