How You Can Join Dubai Police Bike Patrols to Help With Covid-19 Awareness

dubai, uae

In a bid to increase on-ground awareness to help with the fight against Covid-19, Dubai Police have come up with a public bike patrol initiative – and they want you!

All you need is a bicycle, to be fit, healthy, and have a keen passion for helping the community.

The ‘Ride With Dubai Police’ initiative will see hand-picked recruits ride around various spots across the city to distribute information to the public on the ‘precautionary and preventive measures’ in force to help combat the ongoing pandemic. Volunteers could be patrolling in and around JBR, Jumeirah, Arabian Ranches, City Walk, Downtown and Al Khawaneej to name a few.

Captain Khalifa Mohammed Al-Rum, director of Dubai Police Platform for Volunteering said that those looking to apply for a post will need to be fit, have their own vehicle and safety equipment (such as a helmet), and are certified Covid-19-free.

A police jacket will be provided to those approved to join the ride-squad, and all rides will be supervised by the authorities.

Colonel Mohammad Ahli, deputy director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Dubai Police, said the new initiative will allow volunteers to spread awareness about healthy and safe preventative measures surrounding the virus.

“The initiative aims to raise awareness about precautionary measures which contribute to preventing the spread of coronavirus. It is part of ‘We Are All Responsible’ campaign launched to support the fight against Covid-19,” commented Ahli. He said the initiative came under a directive by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police, to get involved in volunteering to make a positive contribution to society.
