Louis Vuitton Has Created a Bespoke Case for This Year’s Monaco Grand Prix Trophy

The highly-awaited Monaco Grand Prix returns in style this month with a bespoke trophy case by Louis Vuitton. Created by the French fashion house in partnership with Automobile Club de Monaco, the trophy travel case was revealed ahead of the event on May 23 when the winner of the race will be awarded.

The trunk was hand-crafted in Louis Vuitton’s historic Asnières workshop on the outskirts of Paris. While it is adorned with the signature LV monogram, other design elements draw inspiration from the heritage of the Monaco Grand Prix. It features a striking color combination of black and red, with the latter the same shade as the Monaco flag. The front of the trunk showcases a large V — standing for “victory” — in red, and lined with a white strip “reminiscent of the unique urban route of the track where driving excellence goes hand in hand with power and precision.” The tailor-made trunk will hold the trophy depicting the 19 turns of the 3.337-km track.

“Fangio, Hill, Moss, Stewart, Senna, Prost, Schumacher or more recently Alonso, Vettel, Rosberg, Ricciardo or Hamilton, the Monaco Grand Prix has celebrated the greatest champions,” said Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton Chairman and CEO in a statement. “At almost 300 km/h between the rails, it’s the Formula 1 Grand Prix that all drivers aspire to win one day. Today, we are proud to be associated with the championship and to together start writing a piece of history. The trophy trunk epitomizes ‘Victory travels in Louis Vuitton’ – witnessing the next victories and continuing to carry legends!”

It is the first time Louis Vuitton has partnered with the Automobile Club de Monaco, however, this is not the fashion house’s first sports-related collaboration. In 2020, it revealed its limited-edition capsule collection with the National Basketball Association (NBA). It featured ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, jewelry pieces as well as a travel case for the Larry O’Brien championship trophy, as part of a three-year deal with the NBA.
