Marking the beginning to a new chapter in UAE’s history, Montegrappa has dedicated a new unique fountain pen to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), which is the organization that made it all happen. The project that is responsible for Al Mansoori being the first Emirati Astronaut aboard the International Space Station had been executed by the MBRSC. AlMansoori was selected from thousands of applicants who wished to be UAE’s first astronaut in space. He will be joined by his backup – also Emirati – astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi.

The special pen is shaped in the form of a rocket, with a UAE flag on the barrel, the logo of MBRSC on the cap, and a portrait of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on a solid gold nib.

“This unique pen was made to celebrate this historic feat and is a symbolic representation of this mission and the forward-thinking vision of the leaders of this country,” said Charles Nahhas, Montegrappa’s Middle East Distributor. He continued, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to present this unique writing instrument on this momentous occasion.”

After the pen was displayed at the Italian company’s UAE boutique for the entire month of July, it was given to UAE’s National Space Programme, where it will be showcased as a souvenir that captures this historic moment.

Although the pen displayed at the headquarters is not meant for sale, the luxury company released a collection of limited edition pens to memorialize the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing (1969 – 2019).
