NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy has shared some out-of-this-world images of Dubai from space on his Instagram. Dubai is known for its spectacular landmarks which offer up some of the world’s most Instagram-worthy views and unreal sunsets, but these are a cut above the rest.
From his base on the International Space Station, Cassidy has beamed the breathtaking images of Dubai and its iconic coastline via his social media. Perhaps in a rare stroke of lucky timing, due to the limited air pollution of late, the images clearly show Dubai’s iconic areas including Palm Jumeirah, the World Islands, and the Palm Jebel Ali. Keep on scrolling to reveal the ports of Jebel Ali and Port Rashid, the winding water of the Creek and Old Dubai, and the major intersections across the entire city that we all know so well.
Aside from the brave few that have taken the leap from one of Skydive Dubai’s planes, this is likely the best view of our amazing city you’ll ever experience.
The images come during a big week in the field for the region as the UAE Space Agency and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) successfully transferred the Hope probe to its launch site in Japan earlier this week.
Cassidy even gave a shout out on his feed that read, “Always an amazing view when you fly over #uae!!” The American astronaut and Navy Seal went one step further bigging up the UAE’s own space programme: “Wishing all the best to our colleagues @mbrspacecentre! It was inspiring to see the first flight of @astro_hazzaa and hope to soon see @astro_alneyadi on the @iss.”
We’ll take that from the man with the best views available to humankind.
